The projects described here illustrate the extensive range of climbing facilities now available from Rockworks.

Summerhill Boulder Park

Hartlepool Borough Council

Rockworks winning design proposal for this unique outdoor project was successful in combining a dramatic use of the natural landscape with a highly realistic construction technique. Sprayed and carved concrete was used to create eight free-standing boulders and over 600 square metres of climbing surface.

The Boulder Park, currently the largest of its type in Europe, is designed for beginners and experts alike and represents a new concept in the further development of artificial climbing facilities.

Awesome Walls Climbing Centre.

St.Albans Church, Athol St., Liverpool

The most spectacular and comprehensive indoor climbing centre in the North West includes a lead wall, overhanging by 8metres in a vertical height of 14 metres, and a dramatic free-standing indoor pinnacle.

This centre sets the standard for the variety and dynamism of the climbing environment with over 600 square metres of climbing at all grades. This centre was chosen to host the final round of the British Indoor Climbing Championships in March 2000, and was also awarded 'Best New Wall'(On The Edge magazine 2000).

The Vertex

The University of Surrey, Guildford

Climbing walls designed and installed within an existing squash court area to provide a contoured bouldering area and a variety of lead walls, including an interchangeable section, where the panels and wall profile can be altered to create new challenges.

This climbing wall is extremely well used and a good example of how an existing and under used space can be transformed into a successful new sports facility.

Auchengillan Outdoor Activities and Training Centre

Greater Glasgow Scouts Association.

An adventure - climbing tower, designed to provide a range of activity options, including abseiling and multi-pitch climbing. This 15 metre, free standing structure is provided with a variety of climbing surfaces and topography and includes a mid-height belay ledge and safe internal access to the summit platform.

Rockworks have established the highest standards of safety and durability in the construction of this type of facility providing a valuable resource for outdoor education.

Rock Antics

Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre.

A privately owned climbing centre within a council owned leisure complex. The facility offers a wide range of lead, beginners and bouldering areas, making full use of Plyform and Realform systems.

Recent expansion has focussed on feature areas including cracks, tufas, aretes and chimneys in order to create the feel of outdoor climbing. Rock Antics have been very successful in introducing new climbers to the sport.
