An
unlimited variety of dramatic and highly realistic, three-dimensional
forms can be created using this system. Boulders, pinnacles and free-standing
towers can be designed and constructed to replicate the shapes, features
and complexity of natural rock. The durability of the concrete material
together with the aesthetic appearance of these structures is particularly
suited for use in an outdoor environment.
Rockworks
unique construction technique is based on the initial carving of an inner
core shape that is carefully transcribed from a scale model. This process
will allow for any final adjustments to the overall design before the
final concrete application. The core shape also provides a solid inner
material within the completed structure, providing additional structural
strength and enhanced resistance to weathering.
The completed core shape is anchored to the prepared concrete foundation. Layers of steel mesh are formed over the base shape and additional elements such as natural rock holds can be fixed at this stage. Sprayed concrete is applied to the structure and hand carved by an expert team of climbers and sculptors to create the fine details of the climbing surface.

The structures are custom designed to suit the operational requirements of the client. They provide a range of activity options including abseiling, top roping, multi-pitch and lead climbing. The towers include safe internal ladder access to a summit platform with belay rig, and internal storage areas for equipment.

The steel framed towers are installed on a pre-cast reinforced concrete foundation. Rockworks offer a complete ground works package of foundation, landscaping and safety surfacing if required.
