Rockworks were the first company in the UK to design and manufacture bolt on climbing holds and the first in the world to apply advanced resin technology in the manufacture of these products. We continue to provide high quality products featuring ergonomic profiles, user friendly textures and inventive designs.
All Rockworks climbing holds benefit from the following technical features:-
- High strength - made from our unique blend of materials, including a flexible resin, which increases overall durability and performance.
- Countersunk bolt recess - distributes the load evenly when tightening the fixing bolt.
- Standard fixing depth - one bolt size fits all holds.
- Anti-rotational features - large holds incorporate a flexible resin backing layer to provide better grip and in some cases the holds are also provided with an integral threaded socket and fixing screw to lock the hold in place.
To continually develop our product range we have worked with two of the Uks leading climbers, Malcolm Smith and Johnny Dawes, to explore new concepts in hold form and to produce products in sympathy with the needs of todays climber.

Power Holds are a general purpose range of ergonomic hold designs suitable for all levels of ability. The set incorporates all types of hold options in a variety of sizes. The durable but skin friendly texture makes these holds ideal for intensive use.

Our design inspiration for this range of holds is based on eroded sandstone formations and strongly influenced by the famous crags and boulders of Northumberland. This has created a unique range of sixty holds offering the most realistic bolt on climbing holds available in the U.K. Each hold combines the organic shape and complexity of natural rock with a clear function, and the complete set of holds provides an extensive range of hold options.

Symmetries are uniquely versatile climbing holds. They are highly effective for performance training on an indoor board and also provide a multi-purpose range of ergonomic and functional hold designs.
Designed
for Rockworks by Malcolm Smith, renowned as one of the world's strongest
climbers, this range of bolt on holds incorporate Malcolm's extensive
experience in training for the very hardest routes and boulder problems.
As the name suggests each hold is designed to feel identical whichever
hand you use. This means that a mirror-image boulder problem can be created
that will repeatedly tax the same sequence of climbing muscles, helping
to develop balanced strength and power. With this comprehensive set of
holds training can be prioritised by using sequences of the same hold
type.
Malcolm Smith was one of the first climbers to use this type of system training in preparation for many significant first ascents and also repeats of routes such as Hubble (8c+). This approach has now been acknowledged as one of the most effective methods of strength training for climbing and is suitable for climbers of all abilities.
| The 'Johnny Dawes' Range |
Appropriately unique and thought provoking holds designed by Johnny Dawes to reflect his distinctive and individual approach to climbing movement. Reminiscent of quarried slate these complex edges and slopers vary in size and depth and have been carefully structured to emphasise the use of subtle body positioning and balance as well as finger strength. The holds have been designed for optimum use on slabs, vertical and gently overhanging climbing surfaces and the series of micro footholds add to the technical subtlety that these holds can create. John could not ignore his trademark move and a monster double handed "dyno" edge has also been included.
| Training Boards |
Rockworks training boards provide an ideal home training tool for developing all-round upper body and finger strength and are manufactured with ergonomic hold profiles and a very skin friendly surface texture. All the fingerboards are provided with fixing instructions and a guide to training techniques.
